  1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a significant change in its regulations, allowing District Central Co-operative Banks.
  2. Air Marshal Sadhna S Nair has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the second woman officer from the medical branch of the Indian Air Force (IAF) to be promoted to the rank of Air Marshal.
  3. In a breathtaking display of chess mastery, 24-year-old Indian Grandmaster Karthikeyan Murali delivered a remarkable blow to the reigning world champion and number one player, Magnus Carlsen.
  4. Lionel Messi won the eighth Ballon d’or award for the Best Player of the World.
  5. Russian company Rosatom established the world tallest nuclear facility in Bolivia.

  8. A new genus of anaerobic lignocellulose-degrading bacteria has been found in the hot spring of Aravali, located in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra which has the ability to produce hydrogen gas.
  9. Social worker Deenanath Rajput from Bastar was awarded the Rohini Nayyar Prize for outstanding contribution to rural development.
  10. The National Medical Commission (NMC) will launch its ‘one nation, one registration platform’ for doctors across the country to eliminate duplication, red tape and allow the public to access information on any physician working in India.
  11. On 1 November is recognized as the formation day of seven Indian states and 2 Union Territories. On this day Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh, along with the Union Territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry, came into existence.
  12. IISER Pune is observing Vigilance Awareness Week from 30 October to 5 November, 2023. The theme is “Say no to Corruption, commit to the Nation.”
